GOD Is A Title : School of The Word

THE NAME OF GOD AND HOW TO RELATE TO HIM
The universe we see is the handiwork of God and scripture makes it clear.
So we see God being the creator of all things. It is through him that all
creation got their existence. But then pathetically, about 90% of the creation
most especially men have not so much learnt and studied God. The creation
of God is what most men have not gained understanding of, that they may employ them to their advantage.
Now, those in the bible school and colleges have a first course and subject
they’ve titled ‘Theology Proper’.
Theology proper deals with the study of God in relation to his government,
personal, work and everything about him. They do this in knowing that the
creator is to be studied. However, I believe there are loop holes in their findings, because some of their proofs are seemingly fallacies. This is not to chide into other people’s ministry, but the letter profits nothing, it is the Spirit which gives life and understanding.
So we can know God through the SCRIPTURES by the Holy Spirit.
One thing I agree on with the theologians is that the study of God is very
relevant.

Who is God?
God is the infinite and perfect Spirit in whom all things have their source,
support and everything.
What is God?
God is love.
So we’ve seen that this God is a Spirit. However, God is not his name. This
brings me to today’s study. GOD IS NOT A NAME BUT A DESIGNATION, GOD IS A TITLE.
For you to better understand this and appreciate it well, let’s take an example.
President is not a name but a designation. There’s no one born under the
sun by name President because it is a title and a designation. So His Excellency Nana Akuffo Addo, the President of the fourth republic of Ghana was not born with his name as President. His name is Akuffo Addo but the very position he finds himself in has earned him a designation as the President.
This is the same with God. Psalms 82:6 will better your understanding of this. How that we are as gods and the reason is because we are born of God and sons of God. However that’s not your name.
So God is not a name but a title.

The name of God was made known to Moses the prophet after his
encounter with divinity. Exodus 3:13-15 asserts it.
In Moses querying of the name of God, the Lord gave him an answer in the
verse 14 that “I AM is my name forever and ever”.
The name of God is I AM. You should also understand that God has a
family and just as every family has a name on them as the family name so
it is with God. And the family name of God is quite different from his name.
THE TETRAGRAMATTON IS THE FAMILY NAME; YHVH(Yahweh). But then the name of God is I AM.
This makes us understand that Jesus is God, because he had the family name of God written on his cross. For which reason the Hebrews went to plead with the king to change the inscription on the cross but Pilate did
nothing insisted.
In John 10:10, Jesus makes a statement that the thief comes to steal and kill
but I AM come to give life and even more abundantly.
So he meant he was the I AM confirming him as God.
So one may ask of Rapha, Adonai, Shaddai and many more? All of
these are designations and it is also important to understand them so that
you can relate well with him especially in prayer.
Whenever you call him as Elohim you mean he is the strong one. Elohim is
in relation to strength. So in battles where you your
opponent seems to be stronger than you, that’s the best time to relate to
him as Elohim for Elohim means the strong one. Elohim is used in Gen. 1:1
and translated into the English as God.

Rapha speaks of healing. It is out of Rapha that we get the angelic beings called RAPHAELS. The word Raphael means the Lord my healer. So when you relate to him as Rapha, then it has to do with healing.
El shaddai is one of the designations I like for the word El shaddai is translated in English as the Almighty God. The mystery of this name is that the word dai in shaddai means “it is enough”. So when he shows up as El shaddai, it means ‘Enough is Enough’ and this was the very encounter Sarah and Abraham. It was after this encounter that Isaac was begotten.
There’s so much to know of His titles and designations so that you really know how to relate to him. But always remember that I AM is his name.
